CRA Named Winner for Best Outstanding Housing Project in the 2018 FRA Awards

We are proud to announce that the Town Park Plaza North Rehabilitation and Renovation Project, is the 2018 winner of the Outstanding Housing Project category in the annual Florida Redevelopment Association (FRA) Awards.

Each year, the FRA accepts entries for the annual awards from its members in a variety of categories, ranging from annual reports to cultural enhancement. A cross section of Florida redevelopment professionals, individuals and business organizations judge and rank all of the entries and select the winners.

Town Park Plaza North is amongst one of the oldest and largest multi-family housing developments located in Miami’s Overtown neighborhood. Built in 1973, the aging buildings, have suffered from years of deteriorating physical conditions evidenced by mold, structural cracks, and broken windows. To solve these problems, the CRA determined that Town Park Plaza North should be substantially rehabilitated to address code and structural deficiencies, improve livability and maintain affordability within the redevelopment area. The CRA has invested $15.3 million into the rehabilitation and renovation of the housing development. This major project includes the total gut rehabilitation of 169 condominium units, the design and construction of new water and sewer utilities, and site work across the entire complex.
