The Overtown Music & Arts Festival is an annual festival held to promote and celebrate the history and culture of the neighborhood and provides an economic boost to local small businesses located along the NW 3rd Avenue business corridor.

The Art Exhibition Grant Program is a visual and performing art exhibitions held during Art Basel to attract residents and visitors to attend art and culture facilities in Overtown.

The Black Archives Historic Lyric Theater Cultural Arts Complex

A 400-seat theater and multifaceted facility featuring high-quality performances. It is the lone survivor of the district once known as “Little Broadway,” which flourished in Overtown for almost 50 years. The theater served as a movie and vaudeville venue, and showcased more than 150 performers, including Aretha Franklin, Count Basie, B.B. King, Redd Foxx and Ella Fitzgerald.

“The Colored Police Precinct and Courthouse Museum” as it was sanctioned in the 1940′s, 50′s and 60′s, was designed and built specifically to provide a segregated base of operations for Miami’s newly formed “Colored Patrol Officers” and newly appointed “Colored City Judge”. Today, the museum’s mission is to acquire, preserve, display, and promote collections of a historical nature that will be of educational value to the preservation of African American history as it relates to the struggles and accomplishments of Black Police Officers in Over town, as they served during the pre-Civil Rights era of the 1940′s, 50′s, and 60’s.

Clyde Killens' Pool Hall

The Clyde Killens’ Pool Hall, a historic landmark once owned and operated by the legendary Clyde Killen’s. The famed promoter brought entertainers such as: Count Basie, Sam Cooke, Aretha Franklin, B.B. King, Patti Labelle and Ella Fitzgerald into Historic Overtown during the 1950’s and 60’s. It is being transformed back to the entertainment venue it once were and is expected to reopen later this year.

Historic Josephine and Dunn Hotel

The Historic Josephine and Dunn Hotel which was built in 1938 and 1947 is one of the last standing building from an era when Historic Overtown was home to first class hotels such as the Mary Elizabeth, the Sir John and the Carver hotels. The Historic Josephine and Dunn Hotel will reopen as a two-story buildings will consist of a bed and breakfast boutique hotel.

Folk Life Fridays

Folk Life Fridays is a monthly open-air marketplace for local residents and visitors that features tasty food and various products from local vendors and businesses which include handcrafted arts and crafts, home accessories, gifts, books, jewelry and clothing.

Lyric Live

Lyric Live is an amateur night showcase on the first Friday of each month, similar to the renowned Amateur Night at the Apollo Theater in Harlem. The Lyric Live showcase is hosted by a local comedian and features music by a live band as well as a DJ and features contestants competing to win over the audience for a chance to earn a cash prize.
