APPLY NOW: FACE SUMMER YOUTH TRAINING & EMPLOYMENT PROGRAM

The FACE Summer Youth Training & Employment  Program is accepting applications from Overtown youth who are interested in participating in a 7-week summer internship program this June-July, 2018. Youth between the ages of 14 to 21 who reside within the Southeast /Overtown Park West Community Redevelopment (“CRA”) area boundaries are encouraged to apply by April 30, 2018.

The FACE Summer Youth Employment and Training Program is sponsored by Miami City Commission Chairman Keon Hardemon and  the CRA. Youth can submit an application at www.urgentinc.org/face. To be eligible, applicants must reside within the Overtown CRA redevelopment 33136 boundaries or attend Booker T. Washington Sr. High School. A very limited number of youth will also be selected from within the City of Miami District 5. Applicants must also be able to provide a resume, cover letter, State of Florida ID card, Social Security card, birth certificate and provide proof of address. “Thanks to the continued support of the Southeast/Overtown Parkwest CRA, the FACE Summer Youth Employment program has provided career development services for over five years. And in five years, we watched as our young people blossom and find their passion for life through exposure to a variety of professional internship opportunities,” said Saliha Nelson, VP of Urgent, Inc. The 7-week summer internship program culminates into Miami’s annual premier careers conference for youth, the Youth Economic Development Conference on July 17 & 18, 2018 at Miami Dade College North Campus, 11380 NW 27th Ave, Miami, FL 33167.

The FACE Summer Youth Training & Employment  Program was created by URGENT, Inc., a youth and community development organization based in Overtown, as part of its mission to empower young minds to transform their communities. The FACE program provides youth with an opportunity to earn money while obtaining real work experience under the direction of industry professionals in institutes in alignment with Miami Dade County’s One Community One Goal that includes (1) Film; (2) Broadcast Media; (3) Arts (Architectural Design, Graphic Design & Creative Writing); (4) Cultural Tourism; (5) Information Technology (Coding & Web Design); and (6) Entrepreneurship/Business Management. The Institute will also provide job coaching, community service, crisis intervention, and continuous learning & leadership development seminars. Lastly, eligible interns will have the opportunity to earn high school and/or college credit by completing this summer program through partnerships with Miami-Dade Public Schools and Miami-Dade College.
