This 400-seat theater is the lone survivor of the district once known as “Little Broadway,” which flourished in Overtown for almost 50 years. The theater served as a showcase location for performers such as Aretha Franklin, Count Basie, B.B. King, Redd Foxx, Ella Fitzgerald and more than 150 entertainers. It is now the home of Lyric Live, a monthly amateur night showcase held every first Friday and a monthly comedy show hosted every 3rd Wednesday of the month. The theater currently features Robert Young Young World Faces and Freetown Reborn Exhibit and artwork.

This public art sculpture is presented in partnership with Kindred Arts Cultural Equity Initiative, Adrienne Arsht Center and Red Rooster Overtown. It is a larger than life outdoor steel sculpture celebrates cultural identities in the African diaspora. The installation stands as a powerful symbol in the new Historic Overtown Culture and Entertainment District. It is located adjacent to Red Rooster Overtown at 920 NW 2nd Avenue, Miami, FL, 33136, and will be on display through February 2, 2020.
This project was made possible with the collaboration of community partners including Diaspora Vibe Cultural Arts Incubator (DVCAI), Opa-Locka Community Development Corporation, Red Rooster Overtown, the Southeast Overtown/Park West Community Redevelopment Agency (SEOPW CRA), Art Africa Miami Art Fair and Historic Overtown Soul Basel.
