CRA AWARDS $220,000 GRANT TO URGENT INC. TO FUND JOBS FOR OVERTOWN YOUTH THIS SUMMER

As students prepare for summer break, the FACE Summer Youth Employment and Training Program is seeking to hire 60 interns from the Overtown community. On May 22, 2017, the Southeast Overtown / Park West Community Redevelopment Agency (“CRA”) Board of Commissioners awarded Urgent Inc. with a $220,000 grant for the 7-week summer internship program.  Youth who are between the ages of 16 to 21 and reside within the CRA redevelopment area boundaries are encouraged to apply.

The FACE Summer Youth Employment and Training Program was created by URGENT, Inc., a youth and community development organization based in Overtown, as part of its mission to empower young minds to transform their communities.  The FACE program provides  youth with an opportunity to earn money this summer while obtaining real work experience under the direction of industry professionals in institutes that include :1) Film & Photography, 2) Broadcast Media-Radio 3) Arts 4) Cultural Tourism 5) Information Technology ( Coding & Web Design) and 6) Entrepreneurship/ Business Management. The program also includes job coaching, community service, and continuous learning & leadership development seminars.

Youth who are interested in applying for the FACE program can download and submit an application at www.urgentinc.org.  Youth must be between the ages of 16 to 21 and reside within the Overtown community redevelopment boundaries.
